The year is 2012, human society marvels at an event that has not been witnessed in the history of mankind, a reported Gamma ray burst passes close enough to Earth to change, but not kill. They sky turns red and the clouds turn black, but when they do not change back when they were supposed to, science comes to the conclusion that something is very, very wrong.
In a small mid-western town in Missouri, strange earthquakes become the precursor to an event much more massive. An explosion of magnitude never witnessed by the residents racks the downtown area, but no one is killed, they are changed.
Shon is a 17-year old student of the local high school when his school is attacked by the demons, he joins forces with the teachers of the school and safely barricades himself inside

As the city collapses into anarchy, and many more fall behind it, the armies of hell pour forth from the crater and the zombie-like changelings begin to take their toll on humanity. The army mobilizes, as the survivors scrounge for the tidbits of survival they can hang onto.
One month into the disaster, supplies run low, Shon and his life-long Jewish friend Jeremy head out into the ruins of his hometown, seeking food and firewood. But they soon discover that the disaster is much worse than they anticipated, it has spread to almost every major cities across the United States. When they return with supplies, they find an insane group who has raided the nearby National Guard Armory, they destroy the High School with a half-destroyed Rocket Launcher, leaving Shon and Jeremy to explore the ruins...alone
Soon they fit right in with a National Guard Armament, who seek a way out of the city and into the fortified city of Sheldon, and as things begin to degrade, and SNAFU works its way up the chain of command.
However, safety is not without its consequences. A man with seeming superhuman strength tracks Shon and his friends, and their only lifeline are two just-as-mysterious people who seem to show up at the most oppourtune times. While attempting to escape the crumbling fortress, and un-ravel the mystery, Shon discovers from very un-oportune evidence about himself, and his family.
And his part in the end of the world...

This daimon has a name, he is the Matriarch, the total ruler, the re-incarnation of Satan, God, and Man. And he must piously perform the actions for which he came into the world, as must all men. He must judge the souls of man.
